Background to ACIA
The African Community Involvement Association (ACIA) started in 1994. It was founded in response to the identified need of lack of culturally appropriate services for African people living with HIV/AIDS.
The African Community Involvement Association (ACIA) existed on the support of its members both morally and financially. However the African Community Involvement Association (ACIA) later gained access to funding from mainstream organisations.
It is with this funding and support that ACIA has enlarged to become one of the largest African organisations, providing care and support for African people living with HIV/AIDS in the UK.
