Give As You Earn (Payroll Giving) is a tax efficient way of giving regularly to ACIA. It is one of the most direct and convenient ways of helping us in our search for better ways in HIV/AIDS treatments.
Donations are deducted from your gross pay entirely tax-free. Therefore, each time you are paid, a donation is deducted by your Payroll Department before tax is calculated.
For instance:
- You pledge : £5.00
- You pay : £3.90
- Taxman adds 10% :£1.10
- Total:£5.50
As you can see from the example above, if you decide to give us £5 every month, and you pay the basic rate of tax, your donation will actually only cost you £3.90. We will still receive the full £5 because the taxman has to make up the difference. And if you are a higher rate taxpayer then it will cost you even less to donate £5 to ACIA.
Even more exciting, the government will give charities an extra 10 per cent on all payroll giving donations until April 2003.
All you need to do is check with your payroll department that your company offers the scheme, decide how much you would like to give each pay day, and then complete our Give As You Earn form.
