Who Can Access Service: Residents Living in
South London
Description: The African Access Project is a
partnership between the African Community Involvement
Association (ACIA), African Health for Empowerment
and Development (AHEAD), and The Positive Place.
The aim of the project is to provide increased
access to information and support for people from
the African Communities in South London who are
living with HIV/AIDS or whose lives are affected
by it.
Project Aims:
- To enable HIV positive African clients living
in South London to access appropriate information,
and to help clients to make sense of and understand
the information available.
- To assist African clients in accessing appropriate
services and support from a range of other statutory
and non statutory agencies and services. To
ensure the service is culturally appropriate
and provided at accessible times and venues
for African clients.
- To provide a community based link to support
services such as hospitals and home visiting,
and peer support.
